Muzzleloading 101

A guide to the care and use of muzzleloading rifles, pistols and shotguns.
Safety tips, loading procedures, shooting tips, cleaning and a guide to accessories.

The descriptions and the opinions are mine but most of the illustrations are borrowed. The drawings in the loading sequence are from NMLRA documents and most of the equipment photos are from vendor catalogs. This document started as an advisory on what you actually need, which is now the Equipment section.

Fair warning! These are very much personal opinions. I am very much a traditionalist. Doing it the old way is part of the game. Others (such as my wife) see the muzzleloader as a season extender and are perfectly happy with plastic camo stocks, pyrodex pellets and such like.
