DonDiego’s Shooting Bag

Good period double pouch design. This was a smaller version of my bag to use with the cut down 32 caliber squirrel rifle. The inside back has a pocket for a brass tool box. The red garment leather for the cross is full size on the inside of the flap. The stiching is a saddle stich with an edge wrap using artificial sinew. I reduced it too far and used too heavy a leather for the size.

Dimensions: 8" Wide 6" High

Lesson

  • Proportion your leather to the project. This weight would have ben a good choice for a larger bag.
  • When scaling down, remember the tools for a .32 are almost as big as the tools for a .50.
